The beginning of August marks the opening of the Granite Capital of the World with Fair Granite and the Municipality of Vila Real (days 1 a 3), Feasts of the Village and County (day 3) and the Great Feast of the Emigrant (days 4 and 5).

Between the migrant community and our neighbors from other regions of Portugal and Spain, Capital Granite expects to receive more than 50 thousand people who are offered a fair with 155 exhibitors inserted in an area of 8.500m2, business and cultural events in the enclosure and in the historical center.

At the heart of the project Sabrosa - Granite Capital of the economic recovery is a sector that has suffered from the crisis and now want to turn it up. In this sense, will be delivered a manifesto to guardianship, of which requires commitment in meeting the claims otherwise stifle the industry for lack of competitiveness in other international markets. The granite industry can contribute to the economic growth that the country needs so badly. Therefore, é urgente:

– Delete imposition of collateral;
– Providing a diesel at subsidized prices;
– Provide electricity at subsidized rates;
– Enhance preventive control rather than punitive;
– Solver litigations between baldios (declaration of municipal interest);

A handful of reasons why municipalities, business centers and associations to endorse the manifesto "Problems, constraints and needs of the granite industry ".

In the case of the little village of Aguiar, The county has three certificates by granites Geological Institute Miner - Salted Grey Stones, Real Yellow and Grey Telões - that come from extractive areas that make up globally 3. 500 hectares. Based on DGEG, Salted stones (Captive Area) and Serra da Falperra (Reserve Area) are existing only in Northern Portugal. The exploration Telões occurs in place of PDM.
The county has its largest source of employment in the granite area with about a third of the population (4.350) directly or indirectly concerned.

The Municipality has embarked efforts to create added value in the sector such as a new access to the Falperra saw Aguiar worth shortening distance and production costs, improving accessibility to existing industrial units, regular meetings and providing technical support for logistics activities in the sector. Capital Granite has to be a finely tuned orchestra in each socio-economic agent knows what you have to do to get that rhythm is convergent with community development.
