The dragnet of great stone was one of the highlights of the Granite County Fair and the Sabrosa, attended by the Deputy Minister and Rural Development, Miguel Maduro, to help pull by a rock over 14 tonnes. The member of the government and the mayor Domingos Dias joined over 700 people, from the 18 parishes, they dragged up the rock near the fairgrounds.
Here, The mayor stressed the importance of granite in the local economy and national, involving 'one third of' the county and generating a turnover amounting, annually, the 100 EUR million. Poiares Maduro cautioned the importance of bringing new capabilities to traditional products and in the granite industry 'is an example for the country'.
During the days of the fair, of 20 a 23 June, were many economic activities, culturais is laser, that stand out Day celebrations Municipality (22 June) with the debut of several works of urban regeneration in the county seat, presentation of books ("The Granites of Sabrosa as regional development factor" and the "Northern Mines and Geology guide Portugal) and the realization of musical events (II Show Dances County, National Folklore Festival of Rancho Aguiarense, Camp of St. John, among others).
The twelfth edition of the Granite County Fair and the Sabrosa proved to be the largest national fair Granite, attended by thousands of people, and they also show other activities in the areas of trade, handicraft, restoration and partnerships.
